Sarah Heeney

Sarah Heeney is HCA’s permanent substitute. She holds a Bachelor of Science from the University of Northern Colorado and began substitute teaching in 2024. She is also a proud alumna of Heritage Christian Academy and is thrilled to return in this role. Sarah has one son and one daughter, both of whom attend Heritage. In her free time, she enjoys reading, traveling, and playing games with her family. She deeply values Heritage’s mission of promoting academic excellence within a framework of faith-based education. Her favorite Bible verse is Philippians 4:13 “I can do all things through Him who strengthens me.” 

Stephanie Wickham

Stephanie Wickham is the Secondary Drama Director at Heritage Christian Academy and also serves as the Administrative Assistant for the Heritage Enrichment Program. A proud Heritage alum, she married her high school sweetheart in 2012, and together they have two children. Stephanie holds a bachelor’s degree from the University of Northern Colorado. She has a passion for storytelling, drawing out creativity in her students while using the arts to reflect the deeper truths of God’s creation.

Nichole Pool

Nichole Pool teaches Biblical Womanhood at HCA.

Nichole has worked in early education for over 15 years combined as an assistant teacher, teacher, an elementary school substitute, as well as an Early Interventionist working with children with special needs. Along with being an elective teacher at Heritage, she is also the Director of Small Oaks Christian Preschool.  She has her MS in Industrial and Organizational Psychology and BS in Psychology with a concentration on communication.  She has been a Program Director for Adult Day Health Care Centers as well as a Social Work Assistant, she has worked with both children and adults with special needs and very much enjoys the Early Childhood Development environment.

Nichole and her husband, Zach, have two daughters. Their oldest is a middle schooler at Heritage Christian Academy and is active in sports and drama, as well as music and playing the guitar. Their youngest daughter is a fourth grader at Heritage Christian Academy, and has a rare genetic disorder called SATB2 Associated Syndrome and loves to keep her family on their toes!

Nichole loves to spend her spare time with her family, camping, reading and studying the Bible. She also volunteers as the Women’s Ministry Coordinator at her church and loves to teach and take Bible Studies. Nichole has a few favorite chapters in the Bible – Ephesians 6 and Romans 8 are among her top favorites!

Her favorite verse is John 17:17, “Sanctify them in the truth, for Your Word is Truth!”

Maddy Givens

Maddy Givens is HCA’s Assistant Generosity Director. After graduating from HCA in ’09, Maddy moved to California to earn a Bachelor of Arts degree in Communication from Biola University. While in CA, Maddy worked for a small nonprofit that worked with marginalized groups in Orange County. In 2018, Maddy became the Development & Audience Engagement Director, quickly learning industry best practices and becoming passionate about God’s heart for both the giver AND receiver. After praying about moving for 2+ years, Maddy and her husband, James, felt the peace of the Lord in deciding to move back to Colorado to be closer to Maddy’s family. They moved in October 2023 with their dog, Poncho, and have consistently been reminded of God’s provision and faithfulness as He’s opened up doors to start a business, work at HCA, and be a bigger part of their nieces’ and nephew’s lives (current students at HCA). They’ve learned what dependence on and trust in the Lord’s plan looks like firsthand and are thankful for the story that is unfolding here.

Amanda Benson

Amanda Benson is HCA’s Elementary Art Teacher. Amanda holds a Bachelor of Arts Degree in Liberal Arts/Art and Humanities/Spanish. She has worked with children through teaching school and leading as Children’s Ministry Director in her church for the last twelve years. She has a true passion for children and empathy is a strength of hers as she shepherds them. Mrs. Benson believes the opportunity to guide children with God’s love through the creative process of art is a calling and mission for her life. 

Elias Lambers

Elias Lambers is HCA’s new German Teacher. He will be teaching Beginning and Intermediate German (new courses for HCA) along with World Changers-7 and Study Hall.

Growing up in Germany, Mr. Lambers earned a Masters in English and Geography with a Minor in Psychology along with a Masters in Physical Education. He has taught English as a Second Language, Geography and Physical Education to students in grades 5-12 in Germany. In addition, he has also coached Basketball, is a certified ski and fitness instructor, worked as a live German-English translator at his church in Germany and led Bible study groups (both in Germany and the United States!).

With a passion to inspire and motivate students, Mr. Lambers believes that his experiences growing up in a different country have helped him to engage students, while at the same time encouraging critical thinking skills. He is excited to be able to bring education alive in a Christ centered environment and looks forward to becoming part of the Heritage community.

Jeremy Landis

Jeremy Landis is HCA’s middle school Bible teacher and our chapel Worship Leader. He also teaches Life Fitness. In the 2024-2025 school year at HCA, he coached MS Boys Basketball, HS Basketball, and MS Track and Field.  He was also able to step into teaching the Life Fitness classes during the 2024-2025 school year, which he will continue in.  His wife, Crystal, works for the US Forest Service. Their daughter Lily and son Jeremy both attend Heritage. 

He went to college at Manhattan Christian College in Manhattan, KS.  He graduated with a B.S. in Bible/Worship with a minor in Youth and Counseling.  He was able to do some amazing internships during his college years.  He has worked in ministry since 2000. He owns a photo/video business called Jeremy Landis Productions. He has been a teacher since 2022. He spent one year at Immanuel Lutheran and has been at HCA since 2023.  In 2024, he started working for Clearwater Church as the Next Gen Pastor and Music Director, and continues to do that in their new space, in Timnath, CO.

Brian Ness

Brian Ness became HCA’s Generosity Director in 2024. Mr. Ness holds a Bachelor of Science degree in Exercise and Sport Science from Colorado State University and a Master of Educational Leadership degree from the University of Phoenix. He has been in education since 1992. He spent his first 11 years in the classroom and the next 22 years as Heritage’s Elementary Principal.

He owned and ran a summer day camp in Fort Collins for over 28 years. Mr. Ness’s favorite part about teaching is interacting with the students because he feels that watching each student’s special story unfold throughout the years is a huge blessing. Mr. Ness enjoys spending time with his wife and grandchildren, as well as the great Colorado outdoors.

Linda Hoffman

Linda Hoffman leads the kindergarten lunch bunch at HCA. She is a wife and mother of 3 boys and a grandmother of 4. Her hobbies are cooking, baking, scrapbooking, gardening and canning. She likes hiking, biking, and walking. She loves working with the kindergarteners and sharing the love of Jesus with them. She likes the atmosphere at HCA, because there are genuine people who demonstrate Godly character.

Monica Sheppard

Monica Sheppard is the Kitchen Coordinator, Aftercare Coordinator, as well as HCA’s Librarian. She attended Colorado State University, worked at a daycare, and trained under a pastry chef!  Mrs. Sheppard started working in the food service industry at the age of 14, has worked with children her whole life, and has been a part of Heritage since 2002. In her free time, she is passionate about hosting and participating in Bible studies.  Her favorite part of working at HCA is getting to know the students better, and being able to pray with them!
