Stewart HCA’s First Div. I Scholarship Athlete

Jessie Stewart became Heritage’s first athlete in the school’s 40 year history to sign a Division 1 scholarship when she signed on to play soccer at Iowa State University on Feb. 3rd. Congratulations go to Jessie and the entire Stewart family. She has not only honored the Lord in her witness for Him both on and off the field, but she has been a blessing to the staff, administration and families at HCA. Giving Campaign Completed!!

The “Carrying It On To Completion” giving campaign has now reached it’s $100,000 goal, with that same amount being matched by another $100,000 matching fund. All glory goes to God for providing for Heritage through the continued support and faithfulness of the friends and families of Heritage.

Parent Meeting Focuses on HCA’s Momentum

Parents experienced an upbeat meeting Thursday, January 28th, as administrators shared several pieces of great news about the school. Academic Dean Patricia Hahn reported that Heritage seniors last year scored an average 23% higher on the ACT tests than Poudre School District Students, resulting in many more open doors for Heritage graduates. Administrator Mike Cuckler followed that upbeat report and announced that of the $100,000 available for matching funds in the “Carrying It On To Completion” giving campaign, $71,000 has been pledged in just over two months. This leaves only $29,000 remaining to meet the total $200,000 goal. (For a copy of the full Parent Meeting presentation, please inquire at the school office.)

$100,000 matching fund for HCA’s

“Carrying It On To Completion” drive

As we’ve discussed at the last two parent meetings, we have had a $200,000 funding gap that was initially promised to the school two years ago but never fulfilled for our budgeting needs. In an effort to take care of—once and for all— this $200,000 funding gap, a $100,000 MATCHING FUND has been created by friends of the school. For every dollar that you and other friends of Heritage give to the school for our “Carrying It On To Completion” campaign between now and May 31, 2010, your dollar will be matched—up to $100,000! See the front office for a brochure describing the campaign.

HCA Says Goodbye To Class of 2009

Friday, May 29th saw the HCA senior class of 2009 graduate with ceremonies held at Summitview church. Joe Holder gave the valedictorian speech and Tory Sheppard gave the salutatorian speech. Mr. Mike Cuckler was chosen by the students to address them in their final event as HCA students. Strong academics, great athleticism, and wonderful creativity and spiritual leadership were shown by this class, and the HCA family will miss them greatly as we wish them God’s blessing in each of their futures.

Eagle Scout Project Benefits HCA

A brief ceremony was held Tuesday, May 19th, to recognize the installation of a new flag pole in front of the school. A prayer was said, hands were placed over hearts as the flag was raised, and classes then said the Pledge of Allegiance in unison. As part of an Eagle Scout project, HCA senior Joe Holder donated the time and materials for the new pole. Thanks, Joe!

In addition, we had 10 people for the morning prayer service at school and three more in the evening. That amounts to over 56 person-hours of prayer.

Celebrating Heritage’s “peculiar fortitude”

Hundreds celebrated with the HCA graduating class of 2008 at Evangelical Covenant Church on May 30th, as seniors wrapped up an incredible final year of trial and triumph in an inspiring graduation ceremony. In the words of valedictorian Jason Pacini, Heritage’s “peculiar fortitude” this past year demonstrated that God certainly has a plan for Heritage, it’s faculty and it’s students. Amen to that, Jason! And congratulations to all of the HCA graduates! May you be as much of a blessing to those you meet as as you have been to us!

Dozens Turn Out For “The Bleacher Blessing”…

Approximately 100 HCA parents, students and volunteers showed up in Golden, CO on Saturday, May 17th to help disassemble and load the bleachers (as well as a number of other items) at Golden High School. The 7 year-old, remote controlled bleachers were being released for new ones in the new Golden High School gymnasium, and will now be used in the new gym at Heritage. Organizers say the bleachers and labor for disassembly saved the school at least $40-50,000. A number of other items were also made available to HCA including: risers, volleyball standards, a gym dividing curtain, sound system, gym mats, vented locker room lockers, 3 susaphones, a xylophone, band shelving and light controls.

A big THANK YOU to everyone who helped, and a special thanks go to Golden High School for their generosity and accommodation of our efforts!!

FOCEF finalizes the purchase of the new facility!

November 15th marked the end of and a new beginning to a long journey that started last summer for Heritage Christian Academy. The Friends of Christian Education Foundation (FOCEF - see photo below. Not pictured: Carlos Barerras) and Mr. Jim Dismore met Thursday, November 15th and completed the final paperwork for FOCEF’s purchase of the Heritage Christian Academy’s new home at 2506 Zurich Drive.

While FOCEF members led the charge, it was God working through all His people - including Mr. Dismore and his staff, HCA staff and administration, and the dozens of families who worked so many long hours at the new building - that helped turn this vision into a reality, one week before Thanksgiving! For everyone involved, please take this time to give special thanks during this season for God’s faithfulness, His provision, and His blessing on Heritage Christian Academy and the families it touches in Northern Colorado.
